The man who built a time machine and went back to kill a ruthless tyrant who had been responsible for millions of deaths, returned to a world where no one had ever heard about this tyrant.

Initially, the man was proud of his action, having saved millions of lives. But all who heard his story gave him a funny look. They asked him what he meant by saving millions of lives. They pointed him at the suffering in the world. Billions of people were living in miserable conditions. Overpopulation had been the root of famine and war, especially in the area where the tyrant would have killed millions.

Had saving all those lives made things only worse?
That seemed to be the only right conclusion.
